After lots of research looking for a training salon that would support, nurture, and encourage an older learner like myself and give value for money, I decided that AbbFabb in Callington run by Eve Somers was the right place for me.
I had been in communication with eve by email and spoken to her on the phone and eventually met her in person at Crufts where she was showing her stunning Kerry Clara.
What I wanted to do was sit the intermediate C&G level two and be trained and confidant to groom to Advanced C&G Level three. This was important as the plan was to work beside my wife in our established busy Salon in Livingston.
Eve’s credentials are first class and she is a great judge of character assessing her students and supporting their strong points as well as their weaknesses.
She demands high standards and supports you as a learner to achieve those standards after my time with Eve and Beccy at AbbFabb I completed my C&G Level two and was confident enough to return to groom in our busy salon.
Eve is qualified to teach as well as being qualified to the highest standard in grooming herself all I can I have benefited from both.

I have had the most fantastic time ever, training with Eve & co at Abbfabb. Picked purely on a basis of location, I now realise that I couldn't have done better than to have such a prestigious training facility so close to home. Training was top-notch, and Eve really is one on her own !.
Her knowledge and expertise are boundless and I feel priveledged that she has been able to impart some of that to me. Eve believed in me and all her students from day one, and has given paramount encouragement and support. She expects high standards from everyone, but what impressed me, is that this is nothing more than she expects from herself - always striving to improve and underpin her knowledge and talent. Training, without a doubt, has been great fun as well - some days like a kind of therapy when we laughed til we cried ie the word " Trollocks " ( ask Eve for a translation !!! ).
I have not only gained the City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Dog Grooming, but also made some lovely friends, and never in a million years did I think I would come this far, let alone be competing at Eurogroom. I intend to do my very best for both myself and Abbfabb.Have no doubts if you are considering training - it is worth every sacrifice you make and I cannot recommend Abbfabb highly enough.

After many hours of searching for a reputable training establishment that offered a City and Guilds Qualification in Dog Grooming, I began my course with Eve at Abbfabb last year.
I was pleased that Eve was very helpful in working around my work commitments and that the emphasis in the Salon is the welfare of the animals in their care.
The atmosphere at Abbfabb is friendly and relaxed. The encouragement and commitment from the staff is great, and I really enjoyed my training days.
Eve's drive to see her students succeed is first class and her patience amazes me !!!! Should you need help and advice, Eve is always at the end of the phone. Her standard of grooming is outstanding leaving you wanting to achieve the same results every time. Should you be thinking of entering the Dog Grooming industry, you will need the best possible training and at Abbfabb your search will end.

Eve Somers is the epitome of a modern Professional Training Establishment, almost instantly Eves caring and understanding of teaching methods comes to the fore.
Whatever experience you have she puts you at ease and gains the best from you. Nothing is too much trouble to assist you. Well, where shall i begin, i have always been in sales, but decided that my life needed to take a massive turn, i have had two beautiful baby girls and decided that i would like to start my own business, which i have longed to do !!! So i love dogs and decided to become a Professional Dog Groomer, after hunting high and low for a professional trainer, i discovered "Callington Dog & Cat Grooming". When I originally spoke with previous trainers they didn't cover all my questions properly, but when i spoke to Eve and then met her, she was professional, yet friendly and extremely confident!! While doing my training it led up to my expectation and more, i enjoyed every minute of it, going home and doing hand exercies for scissoring !!! my husband thought i was mental but it made a massive difference. Weeks went by and my confidence grew, and i loved to see the result of hard work and beautiful craftmanship, dogs coats looked like walking art. Watching Eve with scissors i thought there is no way on the planet i would be able to do that !!! but as time goes on and the one to one training you get and help with the salon staff is exceptional, you learn very quickly. I have now started my own business and i always now that Eve is on the end of the telephone if i need anything !!!! priceless. All I can say is Professional, Excellent, and life changing training!!

Having decided that a career within Dog Grooming would combine my love of animals within the work environment, I decided that the training received must be to the highest of standards. Scouring the internet, it soon became apparent that Eve Somers of Callington Dog & Cat Grooming Services should be my training provider, and bonus, within commuting distance (several learners have relocated for the duration of the training).
During my initial meeting I was soon at ease and realised that Eve would tailor the training to my individual requirements and instil confidence along the way. I very nearly went on an 8 day basic dog grooming course, I know now that I would never have learnt what I have at Eve’s Salon.
In fact I truly believe that I could not have got better training anywhere else, it was definitely worth the 1 ˝ hr drive.
There is a great atmosphere in the salon and we all often ended up in hysterics over one of Eve’s funny stories.
I am going to go for the best new comer competition in October 2008 and hope to join the list of Eves other ward winning trainees!
Eve is not only a doggy person but a people person too, I felt totally at ease as her teaching ability is outstanding.
